State of Play Theatre and Telling Tales come together to transport you into Cinderella’s very own ballroom, in a performance featuring live music, shadow puppetry, mask and the warmth of storytelling. Performed in the stunning Ballroom at York Theatre Royal’s De Grey Rooms, it is the perfect setting for this festive tales.

What Critics are Saying

“State of Play director Kyle Davies blends the skills of both companies most effectively: the live music and exquisite shadow puppetry courtesy of Telling Tales; the masks by State of Play; complemented by the set design and puppets of Lydia Denno, whose domestic detail for the kitchen provides the perfect contrast with the ballroom’s grandeur.” – Charles Hutchinson, York Press

★★★★ “Cinderella offers a refreshing antidote to the noise and chaos of typical Christmas time productions. It is a gentle reminder that for all the glitter and gimmicks it will always be good storytelling that remains at the heart of captivating theatre. The young audience sat cross-legged and quiet throughout, testament surely to how engaging the performances are.” -What’s On Stage
